Privacy policy
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to migrainemasteryacademy.com and to the Founding Cohort application process operated by Migraine Mastery Academy. It does not apply to Bashir Neurology and Headache PLLC, which is a separate clinical practice with its own privacy practices and its own obligations under HIPAA.
Information you give us
If you join the waitlist, we collect your name, work email address, the description you select of what kind of clinician you are, your practice setting, and the approximate number of headache or migraine patients you see each month.
If you later apply for a cohort, we collect the above plus your credentials, the state where you practice, an optional phone number, your written answers about where headache care gets difficult and what you want to achieve, and how you heard about the program.
Do not send patient information. This website is not a clinical system and is not intended to receive protected health information. Please do not include patient-identifying details in any field.
Information collected automatically
- Standard technical information recorded by our hosting provider — IP address, browser type, and the pages requested — used to operate and secure the site.
- The country your visit comes from, resolved at our host’s edge, used only to decide which cookie-consent rules apply to you.
- If you arrive from a link carrying campaign tags (utm_source and similar), we keep those in your browser’s session storage and attach them to the form you submit, so we know which channel a signup came from. They are cleared when you close the tab, and they are never read by a third party.
- If analytics and advertising cookies are active for you, information collected by the services named below.
How we use your information
- To contact you about the Founding Cohort — dates, details and the application
- To review your application and assess fit for the cohort
- To shape the teaching around the challenges applicants actually describe
- To operate, secure and improve this website
- To measure which channels reach clinicians, and to advertise the program
Advertising, and what “sharing” means here
We do not sell your information for money. But we want to be precise about a word that has a specific legal meaning: when advertising cookies are active, the Meta Pixel, the LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Google Ads tag send information about your visit to those companies, and they may use it to show you or people like you our advertising. Under California law and several other state laws, that counts as sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and in some readings as a “sale” even though no money changes hands.
You can stop it at any time using the control in the next section, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser. We do not share the answers you type into our forms with advertisers — only the fact and context of your visit, and the fact that a signup occurred.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of providers, each for a stated purpose:
- Website hosting and delivery — to serve this site and record standard server logs.
- Our customer relationship platform — to receive and store waitlist signups and applications, and to email you about the cohort.
- Email delivery — where used, to deliver application notifications.
- Analytics and advertising — Google (Analytics and Ads), Meta and LinkedIn, only when those cookies are active for you. Each is a separate controller of what it collects and its own policy governs that use.
- Our member community platform — for enrolled members only, to host the program.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, or as part of a business transfer. We do not otherwise disclose it.
Analytics and cookies
What we ask depends on where you are, because the law does. If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, none of those services load at all until you accept — no script, no cookie, no request. Elsewhere, including the United States, they load by default and you are told so, with opting out one click away. If we cannot tell where you are, we ask first.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an opt-out and load nothing, wherever you are.
You can change your mind at any time, and it takes one click. Opting out stops this site loading those services again — but it cannot delete cookies those companies have already set, because only they can do that. Your browser settings can, and the site works normally without any of them.
Your privacy rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete the information you gave us, or to stop contacting you, by emailing drbashir@migrainemasteryacademy.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
If you live in a US state with a comprehensive privacy law — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and others — you may have the right to know what we collect, to obtain a copy, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sharing described above. Use the control in the section above to opt out, or email us. If we decline a request we will tell you why, and you may appeal by replying to that decision.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what happened before. Our lawful bases are your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and our legitimate interest in responding to you and running the program for the information you submit in a form. You may complain to your local supervisory authority.
Where your information is processed
Migraine Mastery Academy operates from the United States, and the providers above process information there. If you are outside the United States, submitting a form or accepting cookies means your information is transferred to a country whose data-protection law may differ from your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Waitlist entries and applications are kept for up to 24 months after your last contact with us, so we can tell you about this cohort and the next one, and then deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. Cookie data is retained by each provider under its own policy. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the information you submitted, or to stop contacting you, by emailing drbashir@migrainemasteryacademy.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law; tell us what you need and we will respond.
Security
Information submitted through this site is transmitted over an encrypted connection and is accessible only to the people who need it to review applications. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not submit sensitive personal or patient information here.
Children
This site is intended for licensed clinicians and other professional adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and we will update the effective date at the top.
